Habitat: This plant is native to Europe and Western Asia, but it is now grown in several Indian states, including Bihar, Orissa, Punjab, Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, as well as in the hill regions of Kumaon, Garhwal, Kashmir, and Chamba. It can also be found growing wild in the North Himalayan areas.
