Common thyme. This perennial plant grows up to 2 feet tall, often erect but sometimes sprawling. Its leaves are narrow, lance-shaped, and have rolled edges, attached directly to the stem. Thyme is widely recognized for its aromatic flavor and use in cooking, as well as its ornamental value. It's a key ingredient in Western and Middle Eastern cuisine.
The leaves of this plant are small, measuring around 6 mm long, with a gray-green color and pointed shape. They have a distinctive rolled edge and are covered in fine hairs on the underside. Above, they appear dark green, while below they are pale. The leaves grow in pairs on short stems. The flowers have a hairy outer covering and a two-lobed, pink or white petal-like structure. They are arranged in clusters on the stem. The plant produces four small, brown nut-like fruits that are egg-shaped.
Fresh or dried leaves are commonly used to add flavor to various dishes, such as soups, stews, sauces, and meat or fish recipes.
How to use:
As a spice.
Powdered Herb:
Powdered herbs can be used in a variety of ways.
To prepare food with our powdered herbs, simply add them to any superfood, smoothie, sauce, spread, or baked good. For children, mix the powder with honey or glycerin to create a paste. The thicker the paste, the stronger and more herbal its flavor will be. This method helps mask the taste of the medicine, making it easier for kids to take.
Making your own herbal capsules at home ensures the purity of the ingredients, as they contain only your chosen powder without fillers or additives. They can be easily dissolved in a liquid for consumption.
Herbal poultice: A mixture of powdered herbs and liquid, typically water, forms a paste that can be applied directly to the skin to help alleviate various skin issues.
Mix powdered herbs with water, fruit juice, or another liquid to create a concentrated herbal drink.
