Description: Gentian is a hardy perennial that grows wild in Europe's mountainous regions, such as the Alps and Pyrenees. It can grow up to 1.5 metres tall, with oval-shaped leaves arranged oppositely on its central stem. In summer, it produces dense clusters of bright yellow, star-shaped flowers.
The mature root is thick, branched, and fibrous, with a significant length below ground. Upon drying, it retains a dense internal structure and develops a light tan to golden-brown exterior, while its interior remains pale and firm. The cut and sifted form showcases the coarse, woody texture of the root, presenting a rugged appearance that's well-suited for blending or display.
The roots are harvested after several years of growth, then thoroughly cleaned to remove soil and debris. They are then sliced and dried in a controlled environment to minimize moisture retention while preserving their natural color and texture. The dried material is subsequently cut and sifted into uniform pieces, resulting in a consistent and clean botanical ingredient.
Gentian Root C/S can be used to flavor bitters-style dishes, teas, and spice blends. It's also suitable for craft projects that require aromatic botanicals, educational plant kits, and decorative herb displays. The product is ideal for formulations where distinct root pieces are needed for texture and blending consistency.
