Here is a rephrased version of the text: This perennial plant can grow up to 1 meter tall and has developed stoloniferous roots. Its compound leaves are made up of 9-17 leaflets that are alternate and oblong or elliptical-lanceolate in shape. The plant produces loose racemes with flowers that are about 1 cm long. The flat pods, which can be 1-3 cm long and 6 mm wide, have a dense covering of small spines and glands.

Spanish liquorice consists of roots and rhizomes cut into cylindrical pieces up to 1m long and 5-20mm in diameter. The outer bark is brownish-grey to dark brown, with longitudinal wrinkles, occasionally featuring small dark buds on the rhizomes or circular/rootlet scars on the roots. When peeled, the root reveals a smooth, fibrous interior that's yellow with fine striations. The fracture pattern shows fibrous bark and splintery wood, while internally the root is bright yellow. A distinct cambium ring separates the greyish-brown bark from the finely radiating yellow wood, except for rhizomes which have a central pith containing 2-3 seeds or many small seeds.

How to use:

To prepare a decoction, combine 1 tablespoon of dried herbs with 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 30-60 minutes. After straining, press out as much liquid as possible from the solids.

Tips:

  • Herbal decoctions can be sweetened using honey, natural fruit juice, stevia leaf powder, or licorice root powder.

Precautions:

Before using this herbal product, it's essential to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication.
